Got paired with a bloke playing off +19 today, I'm currently off 12, but that's a bit sand-bagged as I've recently started playing regularly again and the handicap hasn't caught up so gave him a couple of extra shots.
Agree a bit of money for the game and away we go.
Even with the big swing in shots, I'm comfortable and we're looking all good into the home stretch.
16 and 17 are back to back par 5s I know I can reach and he's going to struggle. I've got a few shots in hand.
16 he hits his tee shot and it should be doing about 220 or so, but he hits the cart path, a few bounces, roll and it runs indy the fairway at 298 from the tee.
Fine, he's past me but not by much and I stick my second into the green for a fairly simple two putt.
He has 168 to the flag, pulls an 8 iron which isn't enough club based on the rest of the round, thins it and it flies probably 140, lands and rolls straight into the hole!!! Albatross off two utterly shit shots.
Move on to 17 where there is a crest and if you make it over that you'll get a lot of roll and an easy pitch on.
He's well short of the crest, I'm over.
He takes a 3 wood from 200 blind to the green, best connection he's made all day and it's flying the green. Hits a tree behind and bounces back to kick in range.
I make birdie in both, he goes Albatross-Eagle and wins the round by one shot...
I'm never playing playing golf again
