Haha. I think PMing shows that they're at least legitimately upset. When people publicly feel they need to comment with "I find this very offensive". A bloke in Facebook the other day used the phrase "types like a spastic" and some fella went into a big rant about how his nephew has Downs Syndrome and he finds that word very offensive. I then had to point out that he was confusing the term Spastic with Mong.
